📝 Description

Émile Duchemin photographed the Surell triumphal arch at La Grave on July 9, 1911. It is the inauguration ceremony of the marble bas-relief representing a bust of Alexandre Surell (1813- 1887), engineer of the Bridges and Roads who led many works in the Hautes-Alpes, notably the tunnel of Serre du Coin whose entrance is visible in the background of the image.
