Edmé Campenon

Edmé Campenon (1872–1962) was a major figure in 20th-century engineering. In 1920, he founded the company Campenon-Bernard. For Mizoën and the Oisans, his name is inseparable from the construction of the Chambon Dam, which began in 1927. Despite geological and technical obstacles, he managed to breathe a rigorous organization into the works. The dam was completed in 1935, profoundly marking the valley.
