Saint Géraud

Biography
Saint Géraud of Aurillac (v. 855–909) embodies the ideal of the great Christian lord of the Early Middle Ages. He founded the Abbey of Aurillac, which later served as a model for Cluny. Biographies report that he crossed the Oisans, passing through Mizoën. Mountain guides from Mizoën likely accompanied him. Through his passage, Mizoën appears as an ancient crossing point of Alpine routes, mixing pilgrimage and mountain hospitality.
