Event narrative

On March 21, 1970, Villar-d’Arène was struck by the most memorable avalanche in local memory. Starting from Côte Plaine over a wide portion of the slope, the slide rushed down the Rambaude stream, reached the national road, and destroyed the house at Pré des Cours before continuing its course.
