Bridge over the Romanche

This photo, taken by the photographer Henri Ferrand (1853-1926) between 1890 and 1926, shows a man sitting in front of a bridge that spans the Romanche. What is striking is the absence of vegetation, making the landscape unrecognizable compared to today. In the background the Casse-Rousse hump is visible.
