Saint-Martin Fountain, a Historic Site in the Heart of the Village

Information
The Saint-Martin Fountain, located to the west of the village, is a historic place that has evolved over time. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was formed only of two arches covering the trough, with an external washhouse. In the center of the arches, a niche protected by a grate housed a statue, under which was engraved the inscription 'S M 1853' accompanied by a tufa mask. Over time, the fountain was enlarged with the addition of a third arch to cover the washhouse, thus creating a unique and practical space. The inhabitants of the village came there to fetch water, water their animals and do their laundry on the inclined schist slabs. This traditional fountain, with its three distinctive arches, follows a unique model in the canton, distinguishing it from other fountains in the region.
