King Herod
The Legend's Story
On Epiphany night in Mizoën, children were told to stay inside because "King Herod" was passing. He was described as a dark man on a horse with bells, pulling a creaking cart to collect "impudent children." In reality, the village youths paraded with bells on long sticks to create the frightening metallic noise, keeping the legend of the Alpine boogeyman alive.
