The Dwarves of Mizoën

The Legend's Story
Long before modern villages, a race of small, dark-skinned beings lived in the "Dwarves' Cave." They were skilled bronze smiths but lived by raiding Gaulish settlements. The conflict peaked when a dwarf woman swapped her child for a blonde Gaulish baby. The angry Gauls hunted the dwarves into a sacred forest and set it on fire. None survived. This victory supposedly cursed the land, leading to more violent storms and floods. Historians believe this 2000-year-old legend recalls the historical replacement of the shorter, dark-haired Ligurian people by the Celts.
