Antoine Roux

Biography
Between 1669 and 1687, Antoine Roux appeared as one of the key men of Mizoën, serving as a royal hereditary notary. His writing crosses the essential files for understanding how a small mountain community governed itself and survived. He played a major role in the Rif Tort pasture affair, vital for the village, coordinating the legal process and obtaining a transaction recognizing Mizoën's ownership in 1674. After the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes, he received the acts of abjuration and managed the fiscal relief of the village with realism in the face of the exodus and depopulation.
