Pierre Delort
Biography
Pierre Delort entered the history of Mizoën as a brutal counterpoint to the village's Protestant exception: a Catholic priest whose presence highlighted the distance between the institution and an almost entirely Reformed community. The pastoral visit of 1672 by Bishop Le Camus painted a very negative portrait of him, describing the church in a state of extreme decay. His passage shows that Mizoën was a place where religious affiliations structured collective life to the point of making the Catholic presence unstable and conflictual.
